Named in honor of a long time community resident and activist, this annual scholarship program is our longest running initiative. Originally, a small stipend of just a few hundred dollars each, the program has grown to the point of being able to award more substantive amounts.
Our community is full of people who want to help. Our initiatives have included community clean-up events, resource fairs, candidate forums and other neighborhood events. Come connect with your neighbors in new ways.
Food justice is an important part of community justice. We are proud that South Oakwood-Brookhaven is home to two weekly food bank programs at Carey Temple A.M.E. Church and the Ring of Hope.
